Among the most photographed lighthouses in New Zealand, the Cape Reinga Lighthouse has seen many people come and go.

Although not situated at the actual northern most tip of New Zealand, the Cape Reinga Lighthouse is the furthest north most people, tourists and nationals alike, can travel to.

The northern most point of the North Island is actually North Cape and the Surville Cliffs to the East of Cape Reinga, however the land in which to access this location is privately owned. Nevertheless, this substitute land's end (Cape Reinga) holds a special place in the heart of Kiwi's and also visitors wanting to claim they have been as far north as possible in New Zealand and they come in their droves by bus, car, or camper.
