Vendors and Pedestrians on the Old Town Side of the historic Charles Bridge, Prague, Czech Republic, Europe. Once called the Stone Bridge, construction began in 1357 and materials used to construct it include stone, mortar, and egg yolks.
The Charles bridge is the second bridge in that location to cross the Vltara River to connect the Old Town and Mala Strana, the first (the Judith Bridge) collapsed during a flood in 1342.
There are a total of 30 Baroque statues lining each side of the Charles Bridge most are replicas of the originals which are held at the Lapidarium (and can also be viewed).
The historic Charles Bridge crosses the Vltava River in downtown Prague in the Czech Republic, Europe.
