Standing on a rocky platform above Moraine Lake gives an impressive overview of this stunning lake, backdropped by the jagged ten peaks which crown the valley and reflect in the turquoise water.
It's the glaciers and snow melt from the surrounding mountain that feed Moraine Lake, and the stilt which is carried in the glaciers and eventually washed down in the rivers that gives the lake its stunning colour.
The Valley of Ten Peaks which is actually crowned by more than ten mountain peaks, was named by Samuel Allen, an early explorer who only listed ten notable peaks surrounding Moraine Lake.
