Stefan Seibt, born in 1965, started very late with photography. Although he had one or two very cheap cameras in childhood, he bought his first SLR during a vacation trip to San Francisco. He began photographing during various different trips over the years but between these journeys the camera stayed in its case.
It was in 1999 when he purchesed his first digital camera a Nikon Coolpix that he finally became serious about photography. Together with his best friend and some other photographers he started strolling around looking for motive-rich places and subjects.
Very soon the interests of Stefan concentrated on photograping landscapes and animals. Therefore his gear seemed inadequate, and he soon began upgrading his equipment. A digital SLR and some lenses completed his equipment inventory. On various trips he learned very much, and then on his 40th birthday he received a present from his wife (together with his best friend, who also was 40 and got the same present from his wife) a workshop with Rolf Hicker on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. This was the most remarkable experience in photography so far.
Today Stefan is a hobby photographer who takes pictures because of the fun doing this. Hes still learning, as everyone else, and is keen to increase his knowledge of photography.
